Heavy rains for third consecutive day
Hubli, Mar 24 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed for the third consecutive day today in the Mumbai-Karnataka region causing heavy damage to standing crops.
According to official sources, the loss was heavy in Uttar Kannada, Belgaum and Haveri districts. The rains have also claimed three lives, besides damage to houses and inundating low-lying areas.
While two deaths were reported from Soundatti and Bailhongal taluks, one person died of lightening in Kundgol taluk of Dharwad district.
Life in some places of Gadag district was also affected with the river Ghataprabha in spate due to the rains.
River water entered several houses in and around Holealur village.
In Bankapur village, Haveri district, ten houses and a temple were damaged partially due to the rains.
