Excavation gives glimpse into past

Kancheepuram, Mar 24 (UNI) An excavation of River Vegavathi has yielded a rich haul of objects of archaeological significance.

The excavation work was carried out by a team headed by Dr Ramakrishnanan of the Sri Sankara University.

The findings give a glimpse into ancient socio-cultural practices.

A brick temple, statue of a man, doors with engravings and clay arches were among the objects found on the river bed.

Professor Ramakrishnan said the findings were unique and further excavation could yield more such objects.
