Court grants interim bail to Singhi Ram

Shimla, Mar 24 (UNI) A local court here today granted interim bail until March 31 to former minister Singhi Ram and his daughter, who are facing charges of forgery and cheating.

The two moved a bail application in the district and session court here after withdrawing their bail application from Special Judge (Forest), earlier in the day.

Pleading before the Special Judge, Mr Ram's counsel said it had no jurisdiction in this matter as no case has been registered by the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau under Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against him and his daughter.

The Special Judge directed the prosecution to give three days notice to the accused if it files a case against the accused under Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau has already registered a case against the former Minister in previous Congress Government and his daughter under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of the IPC for allegedly obtaining admission by procuring fake mark sheet to get admission in a prestigious Delhi college.
