3 Singapore naval ships arrive for Simbex-08

Visakhapatnam, Mar 24 (UNI) As part of 'Simbex-08', a joint naval exercise of India and Singapore in the Bay of Bengal region expected to be held from March 26 to 28, three ships of Singapore Navy - RSN Formidable, RSN Valour and RSN Vigilance - arrived here today.

According to ENC spokesman, RSN Formidable a French-built delta class frigate would be commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Fredrick Chew Chih Chiang, while RSN Vigilance and Valour, missile corvetes, would be commanded by Lieutenant Michael Tan Hai Ping and Poh Seng Wee, respectively.

On arrival, the commanding officers of the three ships called on Vice-Admiral Raman Prem Sulthan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC.

During their stay here, the Singapore navy would be engaged in various activities, including professional and social interaction.

They would also visit places of interest in the city.

The visiting ships were expected to sail back on March 30 after concluding the naval exercise.
