Wrong administration of anaesthesia costs woman her child

Kendrapara, Mar 23 (UNI) Wrong administration of anaesthesia cost a woman her child and made her battle for even her own life.

Kendrapara IIC Santanu Das said one Aditya Narayan Pradhan, a resident of Kakharuni village in an FIR alleged that his child died in the womb and wife was brain dead due to ovedose of anaethesia administered by Gynaecologist Nayaran Sahu.

Aditya Pradhan said his wife Pratibha was admitted to the Bhagabati Hospital, a private nursing home in Kendrapara on March 17 after she developed labour pain.

On March 18, Dr Sahu did not consult an anaesthetist and administered the anaesthesia himself for the delivery of the child through Ceaseran Operation.

But the child died in the womb and her wife gave birth to a dead child. Then her wife lost her consciousness and later went in coma.

She was now battling for life at a Private Nursing Home in Cuttack.

A case has been registered against the doctor today in Kendrapara Police Station and investigation was on, police said.
