Water scarcity mars holi celebrations in HP
Shimla, Mar 23 (UNI) Scanty of water on Holi here in Shimla once again played spoilsport in celebration gusto, and compelled the revellers to stay away from getting immersed in this seasonal festivity.
Including the some of the peripheral areas, those recently had been merged in to Municipal Corporation, housings on immediate town fringes also remained without water.
One of the resident from Kasumpati area groused, it was Holi and at this time MC was required to provide sufficient water, shockingly there were no regular water supply.
Since Shimla MC is considerably incapable of catering to the water needs of residents, but at least on Holi they should have made arrangement provide water, another one said.
Shimla is accustomed to reel under water scarcity, and apathy of administration every time worsen the drinking water woes, as no solution to cope with the problem has been driven out yet.
''It's laxity on the part of politicians and civic administration, otherwise perennial water scanty would had been solved long ago and residents were no more at least needed to run from pillar to post for redressal of their grievances,'' rued another local.
A tourist from Chandigarh remarked, ''I have heard about the scarcity of water in the plain regions in summer season but the grim situation of drinking water in this tourist resort, which claims to be the electric-state of the country, on its innumerable water reservoir, seems to be hogwash''.
