One person arrested in extortion case in Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 23: City police arrested a person for allegedly demanding extortion money from a hotelier at New M I G colony, Bandra in western suburb here.

Shiddharth Kamble (30) was arrested last night, for allegedly demanding Rs 10,000 from hotelier Chirag Bhatt (28) along with his associate Uday Shetty, police said.

Mr Bhatt in his complaint stated that the duo came to his hotel at around 2045 hrs yesterday and threatened him at knife point to pay Rs 10,000 per month, if he wanted to continue his business smoothly in the area. They also took away cash of Rs 7,200 from him. The duo left the place without paying their bill of Rs 800. Uday is still absconding, police added.
