One dead, eight serious after consuming spurious date juice

Kendrapara, Mar 23 (UNI) One person died, and eight people fell sick, two of them seriously after consuming spurious juice of date tree in Alipingal area under Jagatsinghpur district.

Family sources said all the nine fell sick after consuming juice of the date tree yesterday.

All the nine were taken to Jagatsinghpur District Headquarter Hospital after they complained of breathing problem, pain in abdomen and started vomiting.

But they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after their condition deteriorated.

One of the nine died at the SCB Medical College and hospital today.

The other sick people were undergoing treatment in SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

Police have registered a case.
