Musharraf vows full support to new govt

Islamabad, Mar 23: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today vowed full support to the incoming government. Addressing an august parade ceremony at Jinnah Sports Complex here on the occassion of the 68th Pakistan Day, he said, ''I am fully prepared to work with the newly elected government and it would have my complete support.''

Mr Musharraf hoped that the next government would make all out efforts to sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the country and fight against terrorism and extremism, the News reported. He said Pakistan has no aggressive designs against anyone, stressing that security and integrity can be achieved only through power and not weakness. The President said the period of real democracy has started in the country. He also congratulated Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro, the Election Commission and the law enforcement agencies on holding free, fair and transparent elections.
