Fire destroys properties and government files in Kanpur

Kanpur, Mar 23 (UNI) Properties worth several lakhs were gutted in two cases of fire here today.

According to UP fire service sources, clothes and furniture worth several lakh was destroyed in a major fire which broke out in a readymade cloth showroom at K-block of Kidwai Nagar locality this morning.

Six fire tenders were pressed into services and they took more than three hours to douse the flames.

In another fire, official records of widow pension office were destroyed at collectorate compound.

Four fire tenders from Fazalganj fire station took about two hours to extinguish the flames.

Cause of fire and losses were being investigated.
