New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Finnish steel producing firm Outokumpu has said it is in touch with the Indian Railways in order to get a contract for providing high-quality steel for the coaches.

The Rs 49,000 crore firm, which specialises in manufacture of quality stainless steel for infrastructure, chemical, transport, food processing, and construction industries, also said it is talking with the Delhi state government for manufacturing stainless steel bus stands.

''The company is in touch with Indian Railways for use of steel in coaches, as well as with Delhi government for construction of stainless steel bus stands and steel furniture,'' company Country Head Y P S Suri said in a statement.

He said the use of stainless steel in the architecture, building and construction (ABC) is on the increase worldwide due to its high aesthetic appeal, durability and minimum of maintenance.

At present, ABC segments worldwide constitutes 10 per cent of total sales of Outokumpu stainless steel, Mr Suri continued.

The company has launched high quality stainless steel bars for the first time in the country, he said, which will help make buildings and projects damage resistant and maintenance free, especially in the coastal areas and multi-storey buildings.

The company, which recently opened its sales office in the country, has launched its full range of products and services in the emerging Indian market to develop and strengthen this segment growth.
