Easter celebrated in TN

Chennai, Mar 23 (UNI) Christians in Tamil Nadu took part in Easter celebrations which began with the traditional midnight mass on Saturday, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In most churches in the city, including Santhome Church, St Mary's Church, St Thomas Church and Velankani Church, the ceremonies, interspersed with readings from the Bible and blessings of the fire and water, began in the morning. Solemn mass was also held in various Catholic churches in the state.

Easter Sunday marks the culmination of the weeklong remembrance of the passion, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
