Second flood warning issued in southern districts
Theni, Tamil Nadu, Mar 22 (UNI) The Theni district administration today issued second flood warning to five southern districts through which river Vaigai traverses, in the wake of the rising water level in Vaigai Dam here.
Official sources said the second flood warning was issued to Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts this evening. Preparations were on for heavy discharge from the dam, once the level touched 70 ft as against its capacity of 72 ft. The dam level stood at 68.5 ft this evening and the inflow into the dam was 5,432 cusecs, the sources added.
People residing on the banks of the river have been advised to move to safer places.
