Provide compensation to farmers: Youth Congress

Puducherry, Mar 22: The Puducherry Pradesh Youth Congress Committee today urged the administration to immediately provide adequate compensation to the farmers, who lost their crops in the rain that lashed Puducherry for the last few days.

In a statement here, Youth Congress President Pandian said apart from 'Navarai season,' paddy, sugarcane, groundnuts, black gram, vegetable crops in several hectares of land were submerged.

The government should therefore come forward to provide a compensation of Rs 10,000 for per hectre of crops lost.
