Tamil Eelam Supporters held in Kondithope

Chennai, Mar 22: About 165 members of the Tamil Eelam Supporters Coordination Committee, headed by Tamil Nationalist Movement leader P Nedumaran, were arrested when they staged an agitation condemning the Centre for selling arms to the Lankan Government.

Police sources said they were arrested when they assembled near Kondithope in North Chennai defying prohibitory orders. Mr Nedumaran said the agitation was also to condemn the alleged training given to Sri Lankan Air Force officials in India. He said supply of military assistance to Lanka would be used only against innocent Tamils and urged the Centre to stop extending any assistance.
