Patil asks traders to accept sub-tax
Kolhapur, Mar 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Finance Minister Jayant Patil today asked the traders to accept the sub-tax announced by the State Government in place of octroi.
The minister was speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Kolhapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry for withdrawing octroi of the class ''D'' municipal corporations.
State government has withdrawn the octroi and has announced for a sub-tax as a middle way for the survival of these municipal corporations, he said.
He also said that if the traders do not accept the sub-tax than he could request the assembly for a discussion to re-start the octroi.
Chamber's president Anant Mane felicitated the minister in the presence of various traders.
