Karkala records 7 cms rainfall

Bangalore, Mar 22 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Karkala (Udupi dt) recorded heavy rainfall of 7 cms.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Mani, Ankola 5 each, Subramanya, Kundapur, Ballupet, Agumbe 4 each, Dharmasthala, Panambur, Honavar, Nargund, Napoklu, Sringeri, Kalasa, Madikeri, Bellary 3 each, Puttur, Kota, Sirsi, Mangalore AP, Udupi, Karwar, Shirali, Gadag, Sedam, Hubli, Bellatti, Virajpet, Madapura, Somwarpet, Kottigehara, Jayapura 2 each.

Maximum temperatures appreciably fell at most places over Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka. They were markedly below normal at most places over Interior Karnataka, however above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka.

Bellary recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius over the State.

Minimum temperatures fell at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. They were normal over the State.

Chamarajnagara recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 19.4 degrees Celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Monday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Fisheries warning: Strong off shores winds from Easterly to South-Easterly direction speed occasionally reaching forty five to fifty five kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during next 24 hours.

Local forecast: Generally cloudy. Few spells of rain with heavy showers likely at times. Maximum and Minimum temperature likely to be around 25 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively.
