Jared Padalecki to star in 'Friday' remake

Washington, Mar 22 : American actor Jared Padalecki is in final negotiations to star in the remake of "Friday the 13th."

Platinum Dunes will produce the movie for New Line and Paramount, and Marcus Nispel will be directing from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

The original movie, "Friday" was released by Paramount in 1980, with its horror icon Jason making a brief appearance. The remake of the movie will be focusing on the serial killer who will be wearing his now-iconic hockey mask.

Padalecki plays the lead role in the movie, as the person who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake. Artistry Management, CAA and attorney Michael Fuller are representing him.

Cale Boyter and Guy Stodel are overseeing for New Line, and the release of the movie has been planned for Friday, Feb. 13, 2009.
