Train skips Ambala Cantt Stn due to signal fault
Ambala, Mar 21 (UNI) The passengers waiting to board and alight Saharanpur-Nangal Dam passenger train were in for a rude shock when the train zipped past the busy Ambala Cantonment railway station this morning without making its scheduled halt.
The train went through the station creating panic among the passengers especially the daily passengers who commute between Saharanpur and Ambala as there was no signal for the incoming train and it ran through an abandoned platform instead of its prescribed platform number 2, eye-witnesses said.
The train however, was stopped in the yard about 2 km away from the station after passengers raised hue and cry.
It was brought back to the platform from where the passengers got down and boarded the train for their onward journey towards Nangal Dam.
The daily commuters association has complained of the incident to the Railway authorities, as it not only put them in inconvenience but also put a question mark on the safe running of trains.
However, the station manager R.N. Meena stated that today's incident was due to some operational defect and an enquiry would be held into the incident.
The ADRM has also taken the matter seriously and sought a report.
