Six rebels killed in Assam

Guwahati, Mar 21 (UNI) At least six rebels of three different outfits were killed in separate crimes in Assam today.

While two militants were shot dead in encounters with the securitymen and four others got killed in intra gang rivalry.

Four Kuki militants were killed by rival Dimasa militants at Samkhoar village in North Cachar hills as they were involved in fierce fighting since morning over a disputed territory.

The fighting also left six others wounded seriously.

One ULFA cadre died near Gauripur in lower Assam. One pistol, three live ammunition, one mobile and a diary were recovered from the slain ULFA cadre.

Elsewhere a Dimasa militant was killed near Harangajao, North Cachar hills last night. A US made carbine and five rounds of ammunition were recovered from him.

Altogether four Dimasa militants were killed in encounters in this month so far. Besides 22 others were arrested, eight weapons and over 300 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them, police added.
