President, PM extend Holi greetings
New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today wished the people of the country on the occasion of Holi.
In a message, Ms Patil asked all sections of society to ensure that the less advantaged did not remain untouched by the spirit of celebration.
"The festival of Holi brings joy and happiness, which imbibes the spirit of friendship among people of all faiths," she said.
"As the festival of colours is marked by mingling of diverse colours, so let our various cultural diversities come together in celebration, instilling a sense of unity among us all." In a separate message, Dr Singh said the festival symbolised the different shades of life and inspired all to rejoice in the glory of nature in all its varied colours.
"The festival symbolises the country's spirit of togetherness, harmony and tolerance," he said.
"May the festial bring gaiety, happiness, health and prosperity to all," he wished.
Dr Singh also greeted the nation, especially the Parsi community, on the occasion of Navroz, the new year of the Zorashtrians.
"Navroz is an occasion to celebrate the diversity of our country.
