Naib sarpanch abducted;Kidnappers demand Rs two lakh ransom

Kendrapada, Mar 21 (UNI) A Naib Sarpanch of Palasingha gram panchayat under Kendrapara block of Kendrapara district was kidnapped last Tuesday by some miscreants when he was returning home, police today said.

Kendrapada Superintendent of Police Diptesh Pattnaik said the kidnappers had allegedly demanded Rs two lakh as ransom for the release of Rajendra Parida.

The SP said a case had been registered in Kendrapara police station and police had traced the telephone numbers of the abductors.

The family members suspected that it was the handiwork of some associates of a particular warring gangster of Kendrapara, involved in the abduction of Parida.

However, the locals alleged that the Naib Sarpanch might have been kidnapped by the leaders of the opposing political party.

They demanded immediate release Parida from the clutches of the kidnappers.
