Buddhists on peace march for Tibet cause
New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) A group of Buddhists, along with some Tibetan organisations launched a peace 'pad yatra' to protest the killings of Buddhists and civilans during the Chinese crackdown in and around Lahsa earlier this month.
The mrch began yesterday from Salugara in West Bengal and is expected to reach Nathula in Sikkim on March 24. The marchers would cover a distance of 25 km every day to reach the destination.
The participants include the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association, Indo-Tibet Friendship Society, Himalayan Committee for Action on Tibet and North-East Zonal Tibetan Youth Congress.
Around 300 Buddhists, including monks, nuns and youth from different North-eastern states are participating in the march to spread message of 'ahimsa' and 'satyagraha', a statement from Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association said.
