Wanted dacoit, aide killed in encounter
Fatehpur, Mar 20 (UNI) The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police has gunned down a wanted dacoit Umar Kevat, carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, along with his associate in Ashothar area of the district.
Working on a tip-off, police swung into action and cordoned off the village Butanban Ka Dera late last night. On being challenged, the history-sheeters opened fire.
In the ensuing encounter, notorious criminal Umar Kevat and his accomplice Ramraj were eliminated.
Two factory-made High Magnum 404 and 315 Bore rifles were recovered from their possession.
While Kevat was a native of Kishunpur area of the city, Ramraj hailed from Naseerpur in Kakhraid area.
The terror of the slain criminals haunted Fatehpur and even Madhya Pradesh for the last three decades. The duo were also wanted in connection with the recent murder of three policemen.
