UT Admn. to take action against guilty under Child Labour Law
Chandigarh, Mar 20 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration will take stringent actions against those found guilty under the Child Labour Law, 1986.
UT Home and Education Secretary Krishna Mohan said that children in the age of 14 or less if employed on no payment basis by any individual will be considered as crime under the Law. This will include work in factory, homes, food outlets (dhaba),.
Anybody found guilty would be imprisoned for 3 months to 2 years and fined upto Rs 20,000 as penalty, Mr Mohan said.
Mr Mohan said that the Administration was going to start action against Child Labour. The Administration has appealed to the citizens to make the parents of such children understand the importance of sending them to schools, added Mr Mohan.
The Education Secretary informed that such children will be given a scholarship for Rs 250 per month, clothes, uniforms, afternoon food, books and copies and also material necessary for personal care.
Children who are homeless or work in Food Outlets or factories in the night will be provided with space and food, he added.
Mr Mohan said that action would taken against careless parents and crooked people who involve children in crime and begging.
