Rs 3 lakh central assistance to terror victims: Cabinet

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Cabinet today gave its approval for launching a central scheme to assist the victims of violence perpetrated by terrorists, militants, insurgents and naxalite extremists.

Under the scheme, assistance would be made available to the family of innocent civilians killed in naxal, militant or terrorist violence and to the civilians permanently disabled in such violence, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

An instant compensation of Rs 3 lakh is likely to be paid to the families of each of those killed in such violence, the Minister added.

For implementation of this scheme, detailed guidelines would be framed and approved by the Governing Council of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony, the implementing agency.

The Central scheme will be in addition to the assistance being offered in various stages.
