Ram temple still on BJP agenda: Advani

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition L K Advani has suggested that building a Ram temple at Ayodhya was still very much on the BJP's agenda.

''If we had won in 2004, a Ram temple would have been a reality perhaps. It has been our objective to see that the Ram temple is built at the birthplace of Lord Ram without any violence, any kind of clash between the Hindus and the Muslims and we would do it peacefully,'' he told CNN-IBN.

''If possible by reconciliation between the two communities, if possible by a court verdict, if possible by a legislation...'' The BJP Prime Ministerial candidate conceded that he was trapped in the image of a hardliner.

''This is true that what I am and what my image has grown into over the years is not identical. I would also say that some of the adversaries have consciously tried to demoniseme,'' he added.

However, Mr Advani clarified that his autobiography was not an attempt at recasting his image.

''I don't know why this kind of an obsession with a section of the media. I remember that even my Pakistan yatra which created such a controversy was attributed to a conscious attempt of mine to recast my image,'' he added.

Mr Advani spoke to CNN-IBN a day after the release of his long-awaited autobiography 'My Country, My Life' last evening.
