Rajasthan assembly adjourned for half-an-hour
Jaipur, Mar 20 (UNI) The Rajasthan Assembly was adjourned for half-an-hour amid anti-government slogan shouting by Opposition and counter slogan raising by Treasury Benches over the reported CD controversy involving former Ajmer UTI Chairman Dharmesh Jain.
As soon as Deputy Speaker Ram Narain Vishnoi took up the Zero Hour business several Congress members including Leader of the Opposition Hemaram Chaudhary, B D Kalla, C P Joshi, Zuber Khan Pradhyuman Singh, Ashok Bairwa and lone CPI(M) member Amara Ram raised the issue demanding the state government's statement over it.
These members reminded the Chair of the assurance given by it yesterday in the House about the government's statement.
Mr Chaudhary said that the house was assured yesterday that the government would come with a statement in the house in 24 hours but now the government despite having information and factual position report was trying to evade a statement.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore said that the government would soon submit its version to the Deputy Speaker and he would take a decision over a statement in the house.
Deputy Speaker Vishnoi also said that there was no binding on the government for statement within 24 hours and it would make no difference if the statement was deferred till the next sitting of the house.
The opposition members were not satisfied with the replies and they continued to stress on their demand. Mr Rathore, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari and Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria tried to pacify them but this did not work.
Some opposition members levelled charges of corruption against the government and this led to pandemonium in the house with members from both sides resorting to slogan shouting against each other.
Amid slogan shouting the Deputy Speaker adjounred the house for half-an-hour.
