Low pressure to bring heavy rains over TN
Chennai, Mar 20 (UNI) Heavy rains is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 48 hours due to a trough of low pressure over Cape Comorin and adjoining areas of Maldives.
Met officials said here today that the trough also extended pressure to east Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast, which would bring isolated heavy rain over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Coastal and South interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.
Fishermen had been warned not to venture into the sea during the next 24 hours as strong onshore winds from the north easterly to easterly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph are also likely along south Tamil Nadu and Kerala coasts, and Lakshadweep area.
The highest rainfall of 12 cm was recored at Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district during the last 24 hours.
