Indian workers neglected in US: RS Member
New Delhi, Mar 20: Stating that the Indian Ambassador in the United States was not taking note of the plight of his country's workers there, Congress Member in the Rajya Sabha Rajiv Shukla today urged the External Affairs Minister to take up the issue.
Raising the matter during the Zero Hour in the House, Mr Shukla said Indian workers in the American states like Missisippi and Texas were being tortured and recruited on false promises, which had landed them and their families in great plight. He said the Indian Embassy and the Ambassador in the United States had completely failed to take not of the incidents of harassment and torture of Indian workers, so in such a situation, the Government should take up the matter and tell the House what steps it was taking to solve the problems of the workers.
