Hermit drowns in Hooghly river

Barrackpore, Mar 20: Police recovered the body of a young hermit from the Hooghly river near Dakshineshwar under Belgharia police station in North 24 Parganas.

Police said here today that the victim reportedly drowned in the river yesterday when he, along with five of his companions, was taking a bath at the Kali Temple Ghat.

Soon after the disappearance of the victim, local people, including some boatmen, started searching and the body was recovered last night.

Police sent the body for postmortem and an unnatural death case was registered.
