Biometric system in AP from 2009: Regional Passport Officer
Tirupati, Mar 20 (UNI) To strengthen passport issuance, biometric system will be implemented in the state from 2009, Hyderabad Regional Passport Officer B Bala Bhaskar said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said Hyderabad Regional Passport Office (HRPO) had issued 4.5 lakh passports last year.
He said the Centre had invited tenders for outsourcing work connected with issue of passports.
In June 2006, it had issued a record number of 62,000 passports.
Stating that the HRPO received ISO-9001:2000 certificate for quality management, he said the office had developed modern technology to issue passport in five days.
He said the office had identified speed post centres at various districts headquarters in the state for issuing passports.
