RS pays tribute to Mukhtiar Singh Malik
New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today made obituary reference to former member from Haryana Mukhtiar Singh Malik who passed away on March 14.
Malik (96) was a member of the Rajya Sabha for two terms from 1967-68 and April 1994 to April 1990.
Reading out the obituary reference as soon as the House assembled this morning, Chairman Hamid Ansari said in Malik's passing away the nation had lost a social worker and an able parliamentarian.
He not only championed the cause of farmers from his state but also from the rest of the country, Mr Ansari added.
As a mark of respect to Malik, members of the House observed two-minute silence.
