Punjab assembly mourns death of former member

Chandigarh, Mar 19 (UNI) The Punjab assembly today mourned the death of Mukhtiar Singh Malik, a member of the House in joint Punjab who passed away on March 14 at the age of 97.

Malik was elected to the House in 1962 on the Jan Sangh ticket from Sonipat.

A resolution moved in the assembly by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal paid glowing tributes to Malik, an advocate by profession. He was also a keen agriculturalist.

The resolution was later unanimously passed by the House. A two minute silence was also observed in memory of the departed leader.
