Public health outlay enhanced by Rs 65 cr

Mumbai, Mar 19 (UNI) State Finance Minister Jayant Patil, in his budget proposals, has provided for an additional Rs 65 crore in 2008-09 for the public health department over the present outlay of Rs 991.5 crore.

He has also made provisions of Rs 15.90 crore for providing affordable and reliable health-care to rural people under the National Rural Health Mission.

He said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme will be implemented in entire state from April 1. ''The government will ensure that a minimum balance of Rs 2,000 crore is available in the EGS fund at the beginning of every financial year,'' he added.

An amount of Rs 212.79 crore has been proposed for the Yashwant Gramsamrudhi Yojana. A Gram Vikas Bhavan will be constructed at Khargar, in Navi Mumbai for training Panchayat Raj members, officers and staff.
