No irregularities in land purchased by actor Rajnikanth:Minister
Chennai, Mar 19 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today denied any irregularities in the purchase of land by Tamil superstar Rajnikanth.
Tamil Nadu Tourism and Registration Minister N Suresh Rajan in a statement here denied reports in a section of the press in this regard and said there was no revenue loss to the government.
He said Rajnikanth had purchased the land at Kannikaiper in Tiruvallur district and had registered it on January four last year along with the seller by personally visiting the Registrar's office.
The guideline value of the property purchased by the actor on that day was Rs 2,003,963.50. But Mr Rajnikanth had registered it for Rs 21 lakh, by paying Rs 96,036.50 more than the guideline value.
He had also paid the Stamp paper charges to the tune of Rs 1,68,000 and also the registration fees of Rs 21,000.
''So there is no loss of any revenue to the government by way of this land transaction,'' the Minister said and denied any irregularities in the deal.
