MP Cong lodges complaint with EC
Bhopal, Mar 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress today lodged a complaint with the Election Commission describing the allegation by SP legislator Kishor Samrite of being offered bribe for voting in Rajya Sabha election as a conspiracy by the ruling BJP.
In a statement issued here today, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi said the BJP is set to get elected from two Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh.
However, it fielded its candidate from the third seat despite not having sufficient majority. This indicated that the BJP had entered the fray with the intention of indulging in horse-trading.
She alleged that the BJP was sure that it could not win from the third seat. So, it hatched up the conspiracy with the help to Mr Samrite to defame the Congress and its supported independent candidate Vivek Tankha.
Ms Devi said Mr Samrite had no evidence that who had provided him money. He was changing his statements frequently. His closeness with the BJP was evident in the past few days.
She demanded the EC to get the matter inquired by an independent agency. She sent a copy of the complaint to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
