Mine blast in Srinagar, several wounded

Srinagar, Mar 19: Several people were injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off near fly-over bridge here this evening.

A UNI correspondent who visited the area immediately after the blast at 1750 hrs, saw a damaged Maruti car. Official sources said the IED was reportedly planted on the fly- over bridge. Several people were injured in the blast which occurred a day after Inspector General of Police (IGP) S M Sahai claimed that there was no grenade or IED blast in the city for the past six months. The blast was heard in the entire civil line. The entire area has been cordoned off and traffic suspended.
