Mah govt to make statement on builder-police nexus: Patil
Mumbai, Mar 19 (UNI) Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar today directed the state government to make a statement on the builder-police nexus case.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said the government had acted swiftly on the CID report and 13 police officials had already been suspended. The CID had been asked to give the complete report before the budget session ends.
''The state government will make a statement on this issue in the House,'' Mr Patil said.
The issue was raised through the adjournment notice by Leader of the Opposition Ramdas Kadam and Devendra Phadnavis (BJP).
Both said although senior police inspector Pradip Shinde had told the CID that IPS officer Aroop Patnaik had prevailed upon him to file false case, yet no action was taken against the senior IPS officer. Din prevailed in the House on this statement and the Assembly was adjourned twice.
Mr Patil while informing that 13 police officials had been suspended in the case said that five of these officers were cooperating with the government and, so, should be shown leniency.
