New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) Country's largest engineering and construction firm Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) today said it will ramp up the manufacturing capacity of its super-critical boilers and super-critical turbine generators to 4,000 MW per annum.

The company will manufacture and market these critical components of the large power plant through two separate joint ventures (JVs) with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) of Japan.

The JVs will have an investment of Rs 1,500 crore.

L&T holds 51 per cent stake in each of the JVs, whereas MHI owns the rest.

The foundation stone for the upgraded facility was laid at Hazira today in presence of L&T Chairman and Managing Director A M Naik and MHI Representative Director Ichiro Fukue, company said in a statement.

L&T is the only private sector company in the country to enter the space of super-critical boilers and steam turbine generators, it added.
