Fourteen days work under NREGS in West Bengal
Kolkata, Mar 19 (UNI) West Bengal Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra today said about 30,83,757 families received 14 days work on an average under the National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme (NREGS) in the state during 2006-07.
Replying to a question in the Assembly, the Minister said '' due to some constraints the NREGS did not yield good result in West Bengal.'' Mr Mishra said about 51,45,503 families were included in the scheme and added that 82,74,017 people received job cards.
He informed that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 57039 lakh under the project while Rs 39618 lakh had been spent.
