Cong draws up campaign programmes for bypolls
Hyderabad, Mar 19 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has chalked out a programme to strengthen people's support for the party in view of the byelections in the state following the resignation of TRS Legislators.
Addressing a press conference here along with the District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents of the Telangana region, APCC president in-charge G S Rao said a meeting with the ministers and the DCC presidents, chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was held in this regard.
The party had directed the ministers from Telangana region to conduct co-ordination committee meetings at mandal and town level at the mandal headquarters on March 22 and 23 and constitute constituency coordinating committees on March 25.
The coordinating committee members would conduct door-to-door campaigns in every village and the in-charge ministers and DCC presidents would have to take the responsibility of their respective districts.
The programme would begin from March 26 and be completed by April six. The party had asked the campaigners to highlight the developmental activities taken up by the Congress government in the state.
Asked if the meeting had discussed the selection of candidates for the byelection, he said the party would discuss it only after the notification for the byelections was issued.
