Centre allocates Rs.15 crore for Doordarshan's Urdu channel

New Delhi, Mar 19 : Information and Broadcasting Minister P.R. Dasmunsi today informed the Rajya Sabha that his ministry has allocated Rs.15 crore for Doordarshan's Urdu channel for the current year.

He said at least 21 Urdu-speaking people have been given contract jobs in the channel in a bid to promote the language.

Some more measures have been taken to popularize the channel such as effective packaging, outsourcing quality software from top producers from the field of production, filmmaking, culture, literature and media, he said.
