23-year-old Russian national molested

Mumbai, Mar 19 (UNI) A 23-year-old Russian national was molested by a taxi driver today at Juhu in the north-western suburb of the Metropolis.

Senior Inspector Deepak Kaskede of Juhu Police said the Russian girl had come to India about three months back on a tourist visa.

She came down from Goa to Mumbai by a flight this morning.

She had hired a taxi from the domestic airport in Santacruz to go to her friend's place in Juhu. The taxi driver, Sayyed Hafiz, took her round the city for about three hours and when they did not reach the destination, the victim called up her friend to get the address.

Her friend's husband dictated the address to the taxi driver.

Thereafter, Hafiz took the victim to Juhu, but stopped the taxi a few feet away from her friend's house. He then asked the girl to kiss him.

When she refused, Hafiz forcibly kissed her, following which she called up her friends. The victim's friends arrived at the spot and took the taxi driver to Juhu Police Station.

Police has registered a case under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the taxi driver.
