Three killed, two injured in accident in HP

Nahan, Mar 18 (UNI) Three members of a family, including a child and a woman, died and two seriously injured after their Maruti Van veered off the road and fell into a gorge in Sirmuar district of Himachal Pradesh late last evening, police today said.

The vehicle fell into the gorge at Annghi, about 48 km from here, on the Bagthan-Sarahan Road in the district at about 2200 hrs, killing the three people on the spot.

The police said two injured, identified as Rajesh Kumar, 29 and Saurabh, 2, were admitted to a government hospital here by the locals who rushed to the accident site after the mishap.

The dead have been identified as Praveen Kumar, 22, Palak, 4, and Vinod, it said, adding that their bodies have been handed over to their relatives after post mortem examination.

The cause of the accident was, however, not immediately known and police said a case has been registered and investigations are on.

Sarahan Tehsildar has announced an immediate cash relief of Rs 4,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead and Rs 500 each to the injured.
