Palm launches 'Palm Centro' smartphone at Rs 13,990

New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) With a view to make mobile phone use a delightful experience, Palm Inc today launched 'Palm Centro' smartphone priced at Rs 13,990 (inclusive of tax).

''The combination of keyboard, touch screen and Palm's trademark ease of use makes Centro intuitive and easy to use for staying in touch.'' company Regional Director (Asia Pacific) Olivier Rozay told reporters at the launch here.

The smartphone's new compact design, which the company claims to be the smallest and lightest Palm phone to date, is available in glacier white colour, and combines the features of voice, text messaging, multimedia, email, web browsing, contact and calendar capabilities with a full-colour touch screen and QWERTY keyboard.

The phone will be distributed in the country through Brightstar Telecom India Pvt Ltd and will be available in IT retail stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Pune and Chandigarh.

''Consumers who are thinking about stepping up to a smartphone will find Centro the perfect first choice, it's rich in features but also comes in a small, cool design,'' Mr Rozay said.

The company, with the vision--future of personal computing is mobile computing, has associated with mobile networks like Vodafone and Airtel in the country to widen its reach.

The company's FY07 revenue stood at 1.5 billion dollars and it entered the Indian market in September last year.

The smartphone opportunity worldwide is estimated at 59 billion dollars by 2010, with 31 per cent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) in the period 2007-11.
