No decision to close down Woolen centre, says Govt

Bhopal, Mar 18 (UNI) The government today informed the Madhya Pradesh Assembly that no decision had been taken yet about closure of the Khadi and Gramodyog Board's woolen blanket centre at Mandsaur though the board was considering to hand it over to the employees or their representatives or other committees.

Replying to a call attention notice on the issue moved by Mr Omprakash Purohit(BJP), Gramodyog Minister Karan Singh Verma said the Board had not received Rs 1 crore from the Khadi Commission as grant or the same had been retained by the Board at its headquarters.

Mr Purohit said the employees had not been paid their wages for over eight months.

The Minister said Board's Managing Director Ashok Naronha and centre incharge Gopal Baghelwal had been suspended for various irregularities in running the Centre. Several workers were engaged in an irregular manner, he said.

The stock available at the centre was not being allowed by the workers to be lifted for its sale elsewhere, Mr Verma said, adding Ujjain Divisional Commissioner would inquire into various irregularities.
