Man handed down life for raping, murdering minor

Gorakhpur, Mar 18: A local court pronounced life imprisonment for a person accused of raping and murdering a minor in the Pipraich area of the district.

On February 26, 2006, a ten-year-old girl went missing from her village Soneraich based house in suspicious circumstances.

Her body was recovered the next day from the house of a villager.

Later, Jantu, alias America, was booked on charges of criminally assaulting and killing the girl.

On the basis of circumstantial evidence and testimony, Fast Track Court (FTC) judge convicted the accused yesterday, besides slapping a penalty of Rs 5,000.
