Haryana to develop 2 more Gurgaon like cities
Chandigarh, Mar 18 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said two more cities would be developed on the pattern of fast growing city of Gurgaon.
Besides, projects had been initiated to set up Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) at Faridabad, Rohtak, Jagadhri and Kharkhoda, the Chief Minister stated this while interacting with the British High Commissioner to India Richard Stagg, who called on Mr Hooda here today.
He also mentioned that Haryana had received 93 proposals for setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and 53 proposals had been granted in principle or formal approval by central government.
The British High Commissioner appreciated the developmental strides made by Haryana and was impressed by the fast growing Gurgaon city.
Mr Hooda said a plan for integrated development of Gurgaon upto the year 2021 had been prepared. He also apprised Mr Stagg about the efforts being made to augment the supply of water in Gurgaon and improve other facilities.
He pointed out that the developmental plans for Kharkhoda and Sampla towns had also been prepared.
Mr Hooda said new power generation projects were being set up to add 5000 MW of additional generation capacity in view of growing demand for power.
Mr Hooda said that the country's every second car and motor cycle were being manufactured in Haryana.
He said a 135 Km long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway was being constructed. With a view to providing impetus to growth in the hinterland, a global corridor had been planned along the KMP expressway.
He said the work on the extension of Metro Link from Delhi to Gurgaon via Mehrauli was in full swing and would be completed by January, 2010.
The Board of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has given the approval to Delhi Metro for extension to Faridabad and matter has also been taken up to link Bahadurgarh with Delhi Metro.
Mr Hooda also apprised Mr Stagg about the Rajiv Gandhi education city being developed at Kundli, near Delhi and other initiative of the Government to improve education system.
Those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M L Tayal, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Industries) P K Chaudhry, Managing Director of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastucture Development Corporation (HSIIDC) Rajiv Arora and Industries and Commerce Director D R Dhingra.
