Ansari's two close accomplices held for Ritesh's escape

Ghazipur, Mar 17 (UNI) Police today arrested two men for aiding the escape of the sharp shooter of controversial independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari's, Bantu Singh, from police custody in Varanasi yesterday.

Ansari's close accomplice Bhim Singh and his nephew Shailendra were held for helping Bantu escape from police captivity.

On March 11, Ritesh alias Bantu Singh, an undertrial who worked for Mukhtar, was admitted for treatment to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital, police said.

However, Ritesh yesterday hoodwinked three policemen and flew the coop.

The three policemen were also suspended regarding the same.

In 1996, Ansari had made a deadly attack on Ghazipur senior superintendent of police, Bhim Singh who also aided Ansari in the attack.

Bhim Singh was also accused in March 28, 2006, blast case, where a bomb was thrown on Karanda block chief officer's vehicle.

However, the lady officer survived but her brother-in-law died in the incident.

A named FIR against Bantu Singh, Bhim Singh and Rajendra Singh was lodged in the case.
